Siu Ho Yuen (Carol)

Podiatrist

Meet Carol, the newest addition to our team at Podiatry Life Burwood!

With a Bachelor of Podiatry from the University of Newcastle and a fascinating background that spans continents and careers, Carol brings a unique perspective to podiatry practice. Her journey to becoming a podiatrist is as inspiring as it is unconventional.

Before discovering her passion for podiatry, Carol built a successful career as a financial planner. For over a decade, she guided clients through turbulent economic times, helping them prepare for their future.. This experience in financial planning unexpectedly provided Carol with valuable skills that would later shape her unique approach to podiatric care.

"My time in finance taught me the importance of collaboration," Carol explains with a smile. "Whether it's personal finance or treating feet, teamwork makes the dream work!"

Carol's passion for podiatry stems from personal experience. "As a child in Hong Kong, I struggled with muscle pain and flat feet. Back then, 'foot doctors' were as rare as a cool day in summer!" she chuckles. "Now, I'm thrilled to be that 'foot doctor' for others."

Her decision to pursue podiatry was further inspired by her mother-in-law's positive experiences with podiatric care for rheumatoid arthritis and ankle pain. "It's amazing how much difference proper foot care can make," Carol says. "My mother-in-law's encouragement was the final push I needed to take the leap into podiatry."

At Podiatry Life Burwood, Carol cherishes the opportunity to work alongside doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and fellow podiatrists. "Each of us brings something unique to the table, ensuring our patients receive the best possible care."

When she's not tending to patients' feet, you might find Carol getting her hands dirty in a different way - as a part-time macadamia farmer on the mid-north coast of NSW. "It's a nutty side gig," she laughs… Carol is also an avid organic gardener and enjoys road trips interstate.

Carol is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Her multilingual abilities enhance our clinic's service offerings, bringing down language barriers for Burwood's diverse community.
